We know that without some hair education sometimes managing long hair can be a bit of a chore and finding new styles for events can be quite stressful. To give you a helping hand and a dose of hairspiration we have collated seven simple to achieve updos to get you prepared for the party season ahead.

Super High Pony

This style suits those with straight hair best as you can get a really sleek, shiny finish. Firstly, brush your hair up towards the crown of your head. Hold with one hand and use the other to brush out any bumps. Secure it in place with a hair elastic. Take a very small section from under the ponytail and wrap it around the elastic to hide it and then secure with a bobby pin. Mist with shine spray for an extra glossy look. Now you’re ready to upscale any outfit to catwalk level.

The Off-Duty Ballerina

This modern, messier version of a ballerina bun gives you a polished look with minimal effort. Brush your hair up into a high ponytail and then twist the length of it into a bun. Use bobby pins to secure it in place, the amount will depend on the thickness of your hair. This looks fab with all types of hair - especially those with curly long locks. The perfect look to take you out of the office and into a cocktail bar.

The Double Pony

Who doesn’t want a ponytail that’s packed full of volume? This style is ideal if you have fine hair that needs thickening up. Brush the top half of your hair into a half-up-half-down ponytail being sure to create a smooth look with no bumps, then secure with a hair elastic. Now, gather the rest of your hair into a second ponytail which sits just below the first. Use a fine tooth comb to gently backcomb the top ponytail for extra fullness. This look gives you the ultimate swish.

The Twisted Half Updo

If you regularly go to bed with wet hair then this one is for you. While hair is still damp, plait it into a loose braid and then go to bed. In the morning most of the work will have been done for you as your hair will be lovely and wavy. Now, just pull hair into a half-up-half-down ‘do leaving out a few pieces of hair to frame your face. Secure the ponytail with an elastic and then loosen it slightly so you can create a small gap above it. Grasp the ponytail and thread it through this gap leaving you with hair in a half-up-half-down twist.

Braided Bun

This low-knotted bun is equally as perfect for work as it is for special occasions. It looks great but is quick and incredibly easy to create. Pull your hair back into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic. Loosely plait the ponytail and again secure once you come to the end. Simply wrap the plait around the base of the ponytail to create the bun shape, pinning in place as you go. Tuck in any loose ends as you go. Fix hair in place with hairspray and you are ready to go.

Fishtail Plait

A fishtail braid looks impressive but it is actually one of the easiest braids to create and great for thick and wavy hair. To start off, pull your hair back into a low ponytail and tie with an elastic. Split your hair into two sections, one in each hand. Separate a small piece of hair from the outer edge of one of the sections and cross it over to the other section. Adjust your hands to tighten the braid as necessary. Alternate sectioning off some of the hair from one side and crossing it over to the next until you get to the end of your ponytail. Secure the end with another elastic and then cut off the other elastic (or remove over the braid!) at the base of your ponytail. Loosen each side of the braid for a slightly undone and effortless finish.

Double-twisted Bun

This cute symmetrical style adds a touch of fun to your look and is great for weekend wear. Split your hair down the centre and divide into two sides. Twist each side from the front to the back and secure with bobby pins at the nape of your neck. Then, carry on twisting the hair around into a bun and pin in place again.
