It is important to know what type of shape your face is, as it will impact what sort of hairstyles will look best on you. With that being said, in this post, we are going to help you figure out your face shape by explaining the most common shapes and in most cases giving some links to styling examples for reference. So, let’s get started…

Pear-shaped

Is your jaw the widest part of your face? If so, you probably have a pear-shaped face, also known as the triangle-shaped face. Your jawline is your most pronounced feature, with your face narrowing at your temples and cheekbones. Celebrities with this face shape include Kelly Osbourne and Minnie Driver.

Example hairstyle: Deep side part

Square-shaped

Do you have a square jaw shape? If so, this indicates that you probably have a square-shaped face. Your jaw, cheekbones, and forehead should be around equal in width. Famous celebs with this face shape include Demi Moore, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna.

Example hairstyle: Short bob

Diamond-shaped

If you have a pointy chin, you probably have a diamond-shaped face, just like Megan Fox! This is especially the case if your cheekbones are the widest part of your face and you have a narrower forehead and chin.

Example hairstyle: Long, side-swept bangs

Long

If your face is long, i.e. it is longer than it is wide, you will have a long face shape. You may also have a rounded jaw. Celebrities with a long face include Sarah Jessica Parker and Alexa Chung.

Example hairstyle: Loose curls

Oval-shaped

If you have an average length of face, which means your face will be slightly longer than it is wide, and your cheekbones will be the widest part of your face, you probably have an oval face shape. Famous celebs with this face shape include Jessica Alba and Kate Middleton.

Example hairstyle: Side-swept bangs

Round

If your face is short, and you have a rounded jaw, with your face width and length being around equal, this indicates you have a round face shape, like Mila Kunis and Selena Gomez.

Example hairstyle: Short pixie cut

Heart-shaped

If you do have a widow’s peak, you cheekbones or your forehead is the widest part of your face, and you have a pointy chin, you probably have a heart-shaped face, like Kourtney Kardashian.

Example hairstyle: Shoulder-length styles

Inverted triangle

If you don’t have a widow’s peak, but your forehead is the widest part of your face and you have a pointy chin, it is likely that you have an inverted triangle shape face, like Scarlett Johansson.

Example: Half-up
